Cut the Rope is a very fun and addicting game made by Chillingo, the same makers of Angry Birds, Cogs and a bunch of other apps! It’s available for the iPhone/iPod touch, iPad, and Android. The goal of the game is to get the candy in order to collect all 3 of the stars, which then go into the creature’s mouth. To do this you need to cut the rope at the right time and have it go through as many stars as you can and fall into the creatures mouth. This sounds very easy but it becomes more difficult the further you get into the game!

This is a great game to play if you’re bored. You will have a very hard time putting this game down once you start playing! Currently there are 8 boxes, each containing 25 levels. There is over 200 levels total to play. Updates with more boxes and levels come out often. Each box will need to be unlocked to play but if you get stuck on a level, you can always skip it and come back later (however you can’t leave the box). If the candy touches a bubble it will float up instead of falling down. Socks and Hats act as teleporters (sic). However, the candy has to be in one whole piece to use a teleporter (sic) (on the harder levels the start off in two pieces).

A great feature of this game are the multi-touch capabilities, you can cut two ropes at once, cut a rope and pop a bubble or preform a variety of other touch gestures to control the game. Cut the Rope uses Crystal for leaderboards and achievements.

We love the fact that this game has the option to reset it! So if you want to play it again or someone else that has access to your device wants to its really simple! They also have 4 languages to choose from: English, Russian, German, and French. We really like the fact that the developer consistently provides updates and adds additional boxes. Since the developer is owned by Electronic Arts, we know that they definitely have the funds and dedications to continue to update the app.

Overall, we would like to give Cut the Rope a perfect 5/5 stars! I would definitely recommend buying this app! As of August 2011, Cut the Rope costs $1.01 for Android, $0.99 for iPhone/iPod and $1.99 for iPad!

iPhone Integration Rating: 5
Stability: 3
Features: 4
User Interface: 5
Reuse Value: 4
Overall Rating: 4.1

Wow. The Sims 3 is finally here. Of course, because of the long and delayed wait for this game, people have high expectations. Some expectations were met, while some were not, but EA did listen to iPhone users and it made an iPhone version of the Sims 3. I tested out the Sims 3 for iPhone today, and I have to say, I’m pretty happy. Some things frustrated me, while others pleased me. After the break, here is my full Review of the Sims 3.

For those of you who don’t know, The Sims is a life simulation game from EA, originally created in 2000 by Will Wright. Sold to millions, the game involves you controlling these people called Sims: you can make their lives fullfilling or totally mess it up. This is the third Sims game on desktop (obviously) and the first for iPhone. I thought the game, was modern, easy to learn, and fun.

The iPhone Integration rating for The Sims 3 is exceptional, considering the factors. The Sims is a very detailed game, and even on the iPhone, it continues to have plenty of functions. EA still nade sure that the screen still had a clear opening and that the screen wasn’t “invaded” by options and status bars. This is evidence of great iPhone Integration. Plus, when you go fishing in the game, you use the accelerometer to lure and catch the fish. The stability on this application is frankly quite low, the first minute I started using the app, it crashed. Here are some comments from other users on it’s stability:

I just bought it and have been trying to play for 10 minutes but it keeps crashing.
-sbdjlcc81

Not Worth $9.99.
-eaudeamber

My only concern is that it keeps crashing on me.
-simsfanatic101

Bottom line, don’t expect too much from this application for stability.

The features on this application are pretty good, considering the circumstances. If you’re looking for extensive features, go straight to the desktop version. The application has very low features compared to the desktop version, but a satisfactory amount of features for an iPhone Application. This is why the features of The Sims 3 got 4 stars. The user interface for the Sims 3 is adequate, no big problems or anything. What I really liked was one of the menu’s features sliding across pages, which makes it easy to view the sim status menu.

This application has a relatively high reuse value, but you cannot play multiple sims in one game and you can only have 3 games on your iPhone. The game does have different job opportunities and outcomes, which evens out it’s Reuse Value Rating to 4 stars.

Overall, The Sims 3 is pretty cool. It has stability problems, and $10 may be a bit high, but it’s still a very fun game. I would definitely recommend this game, as it is one of the best simulation games on iPhone.

Trivial Pursuit is a board game by Hasbro where you progress by answering general knowledge & pop culture questions. On April 23, 2009 , Electronic Arts partnered up with Hasbro and created Trivial Pursuit for the iPhone.

EA’s take on Trivial Pursuit plays great on the iPhone. This is an amazing recreation of the board game. You roll an on-screen die (via accelerometer or touch) to move around the board and answer trivia questions when landing on colored spaces. Each color represents a different category:

Purple: Arts & Literature

Yellow: History

Orange: Sports & Leisure

Green: Science & Nature

Pink: Entertainment

Blue: Geography

Category Headquarters

The concluding goal is to answer six questions from category headquarters (they are larger spaces at the end of each spoke).

classic mode

Classic mode feels a bit pointless when played by yourself since there are no stakes. You can play the game with others through local Wi-Fi, and pass-and-play, but unfortunately EA won’t let you play via Facebook connect like you can with Scrabble.

pursuit mode

The new Pursuit mode adds a nice touch to the game. This mode was designed for single player. Instead of working your way around the wheel, you move along a linear board with occasional branches. The faster you answer questions, the farther you can move toward the end of each section and pick up a pie piece. Once you have all six of the pie pieces, you win. This is by far my favorite mode.

Trivial Pursuit also sports occasional visual questions that flash photos up on screen such as a famous city landmark, etc. While testing the game, every question was distinct from the other which is really critical for a trivia game.

BOTTOM LINE:

Developer: Electronic Arts
Price: $4.99
Version reviewed: 1.1.88 [App Store Link]

iPhone Integration: 4.5 stars
User Interface Rating: 5 stars
Re-use/Replay Value: 5 stars
Overall Rating: 4.8 stars!

Based on the popular word game, SCRABBLE for the iPhone/iPod Touch is cleverly
converted into a mobile board game, with cool graphics and appealing sound effects.

The game begins with an original ‘EA’ style of intro then you move onto a well-designed animated loading screen.
This all happens reasonably fast so you don’t get bored just watching intro’s.
Now you move on to the main-menu you are presented with several different options, once you select ‘Play Game’
you can either play a Solo-game, a 2 player Wi-Fi game and now Facebook Connect, the ability to play with people on Facebook from your iPhone/iPod Touch!
So this will keep you pretty busy with loads of different opponents to face. You can select from 2 different dictionaries, several computer difficulty levels,
game styles etc.

Controls are quite easy to learn, once you’re in the game you are presented with the SCRABBLE board, your seven lettered-tiles and a game tip.
Just Tap and drag the tiles to where you want to place them. To zoom-in on the board you just use the basic iPhone zoom function with your fingers.
You also have 3 different game functions you can use:

*Exchange: Change a letter you have for a different one (the letter is selected at random).
*Shuffle: Just re-orders the tiles you currently have.
