Talking Pics is not your run-of-the-mill voice recorder. The developers thought of a great idea that makes it far more useful than just voice. Talking Pics can associate pictures with your recordings. If a map would be more relevant to your note, say you’re trying to remember where you parked, you can choose a map and set that as your image. This feature allows you to see what was happening—it’s a great way to recall what was happening during one class, meeting, or idea. Better yet, you can add text notes to the notes. Your notes are organized into projects, not unlike a task manager application.

You might be wondering, ‘How will I ever get my memos back on to my computer?’. Luckily the developers thought of that already. There is a clean web interface for downloading your notes from the computer. Activating the web interface is just tap away and allows you to archive notes on the computer.

The whole app feels well though out and complete. Because of the numerous features and well thought out interface, Talking Pics has found a permanent home on my iPhone.

Talking Pics is a good application for anyone who needs to record things. The additional functionality of the image and the text notes accompanying the audio truly makes this an awesome deal for anyone who has an iPhone or iPod touch (with an external mic).

MacWorld: Axiotron's Booth

Hi!  I know that MacWorld is long gone, but here are posts that were created at MacWorld, but sadly not published due to omitted information.

Here is a picture of Axiotron’s booth:

This company is the first to create a commercially available tablet Mac!  Of course, this is a 3rd party modification to the plastic MacBook. They take the MacBook, remove the screen and turn it into a slate styled tablet.  The Axiotron ModBook even has a built-in-GPS!  The Modbook costs $2,250, and you can see all of it’s features etc. here: http://www.axiotron.com/index.php?id=modbook
But the big announcement was the ModBook Pro which features a 15 inch touch screen, but it costs $5,000-$6,000!

California Academy of Sciences

california academy of sciences

Hi!
I was at California Academy of Sciences, so I just made this quick video using my Flip Mino HD of my trip there. The Academy is really awesome and the building cost $500 million dollars to make. The academy has a built in iMAX theater, aquarium, greenhouse, 3D bug show, restaurant, etc. The building was made to be environmentally friendly, so the insolation in the walls are made out of ripped up jeans, and the roof of the building has plants and 600 solar panels along with wind mills on the campus. Anyway, you should check it out, but be warned, it is really really crowded there.

By the way, please rate the video once you are done watching it ;)

AirwaySim: Full Review

0
  • Product Reviewed-Version: Airwaysim-1.0
  • Mozilla Firefox Integration rating: 5 stars

You’ve probably seen my quick post about AirwaySim, but as promised, I am providing you with a full AWS review, which is probably one of the first on the web, since the game came out yesterday. Since this is an online game, I’ve decided to review it in three different categories: User Interface, Price Versus Performance, and Reuse Value.

  • User Interface: 4 stars, The user interface in this game is OK, but in the context and the way people use it, I think that the interface is fine. The game is fully online, so it has a website interface, even in the game. A big plus in the user interface, though is the overall simplicity of the game. After trying just about every single online airline game, this ne has the neatest, most simple and upbeat inteface that makes you want to play the game all day long. This has brought me to rate the User Interface of AirwaySim 4 stars.
  • Price Versus Performance: 4.5 stars, Since the performance of the game is high, and the price is relatively low. I gave Price Versus Performance 5 stars, because performance is 6 stars, and price is 4 stars, and it evens out. One problem is they advertise a demo, but in their demo, they leave out all the good features, so you have to know you’ll like the game, because the demo won’t help. The price is about 6 bucks for a 3 month game, and you can go bankrupt 4 times for free, than you have to repay 10 credits (about 6 bucks) to play again. Remember, you have to be “into” airlines to play this game, because it’s not fun if you don’t know about them. The performance of the game is amazing, with few bugs, because it went through months of beta testing. This is why I rates AirwaySim’s Price Versus Performance 4.5 stars.
  • Reuse Value: 5 stars, AirwaySim is so addicting! When you’re trying a new route in your airline, and you want to see how it goes, you’ll probably want to check. In some other online airline games I’ve played, you had to wait a real day to see if you were making money. In this game, the developers constructed and implemented the “accelerated real-time” mode. This mode means that 25 minutes is a real game day in AirwaySim. So you can make a new business plan, eat lunch, and then come back to see how your plan is working out. The bottom line is, there always seems a reason to check the game, at least, that’s how it’s been for me the last few months when I tested the game! These are the reasons why I rated AirwaySim’s Reuse Value 5 stars.
  • Wrap-Up: Here are the ratings for each category, and an overall rating for AirwaySim.
  • User Interface: 4 stars
  • Price Versus Perfomance: 4.5 stars
  • Reuse Value: 5 stars
  • Overall AirwaySim rating: 4.5 stars

Thank you for reading my AirwaySim review. If you have any questions about the game, please comment the page.

AirwaySim: Released To The Public!

0

A while ago, I mentioned that my favorite airline simulation was coming out soon, and today it was finally released. You can check it out and try a free demo right here. Some cool features are that it’s fully web based, so you don’t have to download any crapware onto your computer, and that you’re playing with hundreds of other people. If you guys are interested, we can form a private airline alliance for TeenCast only… I will also make a full game review soon.

MacWorld: Griffin's Booth

Hi!  Any post with the title containing “MacWorld:” means that the post was created at the MacWorld Expo in the Moscone Center, San Francisco.

I am in Griffin’s booth right now.  I am checking out their Strealine case for the iPhone/iPhone 3G.  If you haven’t heard about it, it is a really cool sport armband case.
Here are some of it’s features:

  • Clear, full-face screen protector safeguards against scratches and smudges
  • Screen protector allows click wheel or touchscreen use and unhindered access
  • Reflective trim makes you more visible to traffic at dusk
  • Washable, two-way adjustable band fits any arm in a breathable, comfortable fit that you can wear all dayGriffins Streamline Case for iPhone 3G

I also checked out their AirCurve which is an acoustic amplifier for the iPhone.  It doesn’t have speakers or batteries.  It has a waveguide “horn” that collects sound from the built-in speaker of the iPhone and amplifies it about 10 decibels!

MacWorld: Cultured Code Booth

Hi!  Any post with the title containing “MacWorld:” means that the post was created at the MacWorld Expo in the Moscone Center, San Francisco.

Just a few days back, I reviewed “Things” a revolutionary task manager for the iPhone and Mac.  The copy I was using for the Mac was a release candidate (not a final copy).  Cultured Code (The company who makes “Things”) has finally released their gold master (final copy) of Things today here at MacWorld!  Anyway, here is a picture of some sketches of Things for the iPhone:

I am checking out their newest release: Label’s & Addresses. It is a tool for printing all sorts of labels and envelopes.  Here is a screenshot:

Unfortunately, it is $50!  Yes, $50!!  Maybe it is worth it if you do a lot of business stuff.
