Camtasia Realeased for Mac
People don’t want a long, drawn-out explanation. They want to see what you’re talking about. That’s why Camtasia was such a hit when it debuted, and now, the world’s best screencasting program for Windows, just got a highly-anticipated Mac release. Camtasia lets you easily record audio and video from multiple sources at once, making it extremely easy to talk someone through what’s happening onscreen.
The recording of your screen, your Mac’s audio output, sound from your microphone, and video from your iSight can all be easily arranged in the timeline along with any other elements you might want to import. Combine that with a nice effects library and easy sharing, and you’ve got a winning screencast app.
It’s also currently discounted from $150 to $99.
Mac users have been looking forward to Camtasia for a couple of years now, mainly because it tops other Mac screen recording software in terms of post-production and editing. The Mac version of Camtasia isn’t exactly the same as the PC version, however.
Aside from the Mac-like UI design, it also has more options for editing the size, position and rotation of your video than its Windows counterpart. The Camtasia team has used their own software to record a screencast of Camtasia, and that’s a good place to start getting familiar with the features. Check it out here .

FINALLY! I have been waiting for Camtasia to come out for the Mac, FOREVER.
Is this better or worse than Screenflow?
Personally i think their completely different, yet very similar. Although they both are screen recording softwares, the effects, quality, and user interface, are not to alike. So it all depends on what your looking for.
@Alex dude, Camtasia is waay more professional than Screenflow.
Seems freaking awesome, but isn’t $99 a little steep??
@carrie $99 for a professional screencasting application is actually pretty reasonable, in my opinion.
FWIW, we do have a free screencasting application on the mac, called Jing. It records voice, screen action, webcamera and produces to flash.
There’s no editing of the videos, but, for quick and simple screencasting, its pretty sweet. http://www.jingproject.com

are you serious? this will seriously help me out
thank you camtasia!!
they are actually selling this for $300 on their official site, so it’s actually a decent discount. but i agree, it’s a little steep for the amateur.
You know I was just thinking yesterday that I needed to find a program much like this one. Thanks for the info and I’m going to look into getting it.
I’m just wondering what took them so long? They had to have known that mac users tend to be pretty artistic in nature (for the most part) and would want to be using this application instead of some of the much lesser known and lesser quality apps.
Sometimes I wonder if these companies even realize that macs exist… And how many sales they would gain from having a solid product on both platforms.
@Brandon: because the Mac and PC screen capturing is different, they needed a complete rewrite. It took tiimee
Now if they’ll make screenflow for windows
